GABEH

Gabeh carpets are a traditional Persian carpet, woven around the Zargros Mountain range in Iran. Gabeh's are thicker and coarser carpets sometimes an inch thick. The word Gabeh derives from Farsi and translates to raw, natural and uncut.

Gabeh's have a very basic design with only a limited number of decorative, mostly rectangular objects resembling animals, flowers or trees. Gabeh carpets usually use bright colours, such as yellow and red. Although large fields of solid colour are used in Gabbeh designs, the colour varies throughout the carpet.

Gabeh's are made of natural, handspun wool and all the colours are created with natural plant dyes.
